p/s: I have been going out almost everyday for some photo shooting and nerdy stuff, which explains why I haven't been posting here for the last few days. It's interesting how I blog more frequently when I am busy with studies. (Check out my posting frequency before my research due date on 23 May, if you care) Maybe I simply have no life. :P Anyway enjoy the pics. More to come in the coming days.

A Speech by A 12-Year-Old

What were you doing when you were twelve years old?

This girl, Severn Suzuki, gave this speech at a UN Earth Summit for which she received a standing ovation.

I can't help but to be impressed by her conviction and composure during the speech. Yes, we owe this world a better future, and one can't present a case much stronger than this twelve-year-old girl.

p/s: Okay apparently there are reasons to believe that the speech is partly, if not entirely written by her father who is an environmental activist. Kind of take away the magic of "the prodigal prodigious daughter". But still it doesn't detract from the validity of her message, and her pretty good speaking skills.

Relaxing Game

I love the music in this game. Such a piece of music makes me regret not having learnt any musical instrument. :(

2 grams

Yeah, about one tenth the weight of a soul. Apparently that's also the weight of the thin plastic bag you use to keep the fruits in the supermarkets.

A couple of hours ago I was visiting Safeway supermarket and buying some fruits. Before paying for the fruit, I weighed the mandarins at the scale which gave me 915 grams. But when I went to the cashier, although his scale also registered the weight as 915 grams, the receipt only printed 913 grams. Apparently they very smartly deducted the 2 grams for the plastic bag. I am pretty sure it's not due to equipment inaccuracy as the smallest unit for the scales are 5 grams; and this was the second time I observed the same thing in Safeway.

If you are about to give Safeway a round of applause... Hold on. In order to save at least 5 cents from this deduction, the fruit must cost more than 25 dollars per kilogram. And as you might have guessed - nothing costs more than 25 dollars per kilogram in Safeway.

But at least they were kind to have thought of the plastic bag's weight. :D
