Can You Hear It?
Do you know that as we grow older, the highest frequency of the sound we could hear actually decreases? We are always told that human can hear sounds from 20Hz to 25kHz, but the upper limit and the lower limit are not constant, and it changes throughout one's life.

Oh my God... I can only hear through 14.9 kHz. Sigh...
I got the same as you for this one, though sometimes I even doubt my own hearing!
Okay, this is scaring me. I tried out the tests. First I pressed the 8 kHz button. I could hear it clearly. Next I clicked on the 10 kHz button, confident that I could hear it as well. But no, it didn't work. So I tried again. No, it still didn't work. I moved on to 12 kHz. Time and again I replayed the ringtones, thinking it's some kind of bug which prevents it from playing, until my sis in the living room called out,"Hey, what's that sound?" and my bro replied,"Yeah, it's irritating."
Then only it dawned on me that the highest frequency I can hear is 8 kHZ.
The feeling at that time was one of helpless and despair.
I guess I can attribute my bad hearing to the followings:
First: Playing Beethoven's pieces on the piano, of which require heavy touches, and hence the maximum volume possibly produced by a piano.
Second: Playing the violin in confined space, where the shrilling high pitched notes and high decible sound fully enter your ears without fail, especially your left ear (Yes, I can hardly hear the 8 kHz ultrasonic sound with my left ear).
Third: Drumming in yet another confined room which can be deafening at times.
And not forgetting my weekly entertainment in the hostel -- listening to the radio using earphone and the occasional listening to MP3s from my laptop using a headphone.

Sophisticatedsoul: Eerm, don't despair... The fact that you never knew you couldn't hear high frequency sound, reflects that it doesn't really matter. Make sure you preserve your hearing carefully ya! :D
