English
Today I finally realised how badly I need to improve my English...
I was supposed to get a dietary history from a patient, when I asked the question of the year:
Do you cook yourself?(Yew, 2005)
And all I got was a puzzled look. So paisehh...

Wa, you have post something almost everyday... I thought once a week. Now very eng is it?
Regarding the malaysia english, i noticed even my frens (english educated) also make the same mistake. Haha...semua orang sama sama teruk.
Ermm, it should be “Do you cook by yourself?” It’s apparent that the patient thought I was meaning something else. :D
t_t: Err, not exactly eng, but I planned to put something more related to life so that I can’t recall in the future marr..
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! *fell down on the floor* ouch!
u do have a gooood sense of humour! pity that patient... but hey! u get to see patient liao ah?
I do cook myself... Muahahaha...
Judging that you're getting a dietary history, I think the correct one is "Do you cook for yourself?"... Not 'by', cos that you be the same as asking, "Do you cook by yourself or with somebody"
day-dreamer: Yeah, that was the first time we got to talk to a real patient.
Eric Fu: Which part of you is half-cooked,then? :D
Cheok Quen: Eih, thanks for leaving a comment!! Hehe.. first time see you here worr... You are right, asking “do you cook by yourself” would have carried a different meaning. However, if I have used “by” instead of “for”, I should also have gotten an answer from the patient, but in a different way.
"Do you cook for yourself?"
